- TOSCA-Structure: Nowadays a mature Optimization Technology in the Design Process.(FE-DESIGN: The Optimization Company since 11 Years)
- Mr. Manfred Fritsch, Dipl.-Ing., Engineering Services , FE-DESIGN GmbH
The challenge and pressure to develop and produce competitive products is stronger than ever, especially in the current economical situation. FE-DESIGN, the technology leader in topology/shape/bead optimization solutions since one decade, is helping customers worldwide to improve their products from the first draft design through the final series-production. Industrial case studies will show efficient approaches to achieve results "over night". |
11:45 - 12:30 |
- TOSCA Structure 7.0, Strengths and Highlights of the latest Version
- Mr. Chavdar Georgiev, Dipl. -Ing., Engineering Services, FE-DESIGN GmbH
Optimization is getting more and more important in the modern product development process. FE-DESIGN introduces with the latest release of TOSCA Structure Version 7.0 a highly effective tool for topology, shape and bead optimization. Besides many advanced functionalities a new and revolutionary graphical user interface (GUI) with TOSCA ANSA ™ environment is available now. This enables you to set up the workflow for optimization tasks in an "engineer like" and intuitive way and to use all advanced functionalities of TOSCA 7.0 and your FEA solver. For the first time it is possible now to close the optimization loop between topology and shape optimization by using the fully automated validation run with TOSCA ANSA ™ environment. Latest case studies with TOSCA from different European companies will also be presented. |

- Structural Optimization Solutions with TOSCA (topology/shape/bead) are indispensable today in all industries (e.g. heavy industry, electronic, medical, aircraft) and not in automotive only.
- Mr. Manfred Fritsch, Dipl.-Ing., Engineering Services , FE-DESIGN GmbH
Structural optimization technology is used in automotive industry successfully since many years. TOSCA Structure was developed for their advanced and challenging demands and requests; e.g. consideration of non-linearities and manufacturing constraints or integration of fatigue in the optimization process. In the meantime all other industries can benefit from our multi years of experiences in topology/shape/bead optimization solutions: Several examples from these industries are showing how these customers could leverage knowledge for their own advantage. |
14:30 - 15:10 |
- Topology optimization and acoustic structure optimization of contacting and large-deformation part
- Masami Tsukamoto, Structure Performance Optimization Group, Engineering Department 3, VINAS Co., Ltd.
- Approach toward formerly impossible design optimization based on contact and large deformation problems and consideration of acoustics in structural design is presented in this session.

- TOSCA application example in compressor development
- Mr. Ryota Aoki, Analysis Technology Research Dept.
Advanced Technology Development Office
R&D Division, SANDEN CORPORATION
SANDEN uses non-parametric structural design optimization in its development process of compressors for automotive air-conditioning unit to speed up the development and to improve the quality of design. This session presents their application examples and discusses how and why they introduced TOSCA and their optimization achievements so far, as well as their future challenges. |

- Optimization of emboss geometry in automotive heat insulation plate
- Can non-parametric optimization beat parametric optimization? -
- Mr. Susumu Sunaga, R&D Senior Supervisor, FUKAI MFG. CO., LTD.
The embossing technology is widely used as one of the effective weight reduction method for heat insulators in the western automotive industry. This embossing technology must accomplish its maximum stiffness while considering formability in the limited space given by vehicle body structure. In order to determine the most appropriate emboss geometry, let me introduce which software is more appropriate considering the characteristics and advantages of parametric optimization and non-parametric optimization. |
16:50 - 17:30 |
- Shape optimization of engine component by TOSCA
- Mr. Hiroki Otsubo, ANALYSIS DEPT. 61 CAE TECHNOLOGY DIV. 6, TOYOTA TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
One of the most complex components of an automotive engine is cylinder head. This session presents an example of non-parametric shape optimization performed by TOSCA to reduce weight and cost while maintaining reliability. |
